Pregnancy YOGA!

Minimizing your risks for Gestational diabetes occurs through health eating and maintaining some physical activity. I am not saying you need to run a marathon, but continue with some exercise. I found this youtube video on pregnancy yoga.

I actually did some of it to see how I feel. I feel refreshed. lol. According to the Australian Diabetes in Pregnancy Society at www.adips.org women at risk for gestational diabetes need to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, eat high fiber and choose foods low in fat. The goal is to eat good so you can partake in 30 minutes of exercise for at least 3 days a week. There is no reason to be afraid of exercise. Remember to only do low impact exercise (walking, light swimming, pilates, yoga and even some jumping jacks).

  1. Luis,

Thank you for posting this video on exercise. Although I do not have children myself, I imagine one can get so focused on eating healthy that they lose sight of the importance of exercise during their pregancy. This video is a good example of a low impact exercise that any woman can do at home. Thus, making exercise at least 3 times a week a realistic option.

  2. Hi, Luis, I just have to say I laughed at your comment on low-impact exercise for pregnant women. I tried a "Nightclub Cardio" class at the Y and the instructor was quite pregnant (maybe six or seven months). I had lots of trouble keeping up with her!!
